In case you couldn't tell from the guys' posts this week, we've officially entered the next level of production. With Mike's 'final' screenplay in hand and Andy off doing whatever it is producers do, it's time for me to move beyond vague ideas for the movie and start solidifying my vision. You know, the fun stuff.
Step one for me is notating the script. It's simply me, a pencil, and some good music as I work through the groundwork that Mike laid, make all the nitpicky notes that I didn't want Mike to deal with earlier while jotting down my initial vision for the specific scenes. It ends up being a mess of scribbles and half drawings that will end up becoming my storyboards, which will be promptly redone once we start shooting. Creating something just so you can disregard it, such is filmmaking.
Today, I'd like to leave you with a glimpse into the process with a look at the first page of my copy of the script.
It makes me so happy to see it so messy already, I can't wait for what's next. Now, if you would excuse me I have some work to do.
